Before rushing to the service center, make sure you have tried some basic troubleshooting steps that we’ve mentioned below. The methods have been proved to be very effective in most cases.

Method 1: Charge your phone

Any phone won’t be able to boot itself if it does not have a sufficient battery backup. The battery gets drained entirely in many cases, which might take more than usual to boot the device. So, plug the device into the adapter, and let it charge for at least 10-20 minutes.

Now, press and hold the power button and wait for the Samsung logo to appear. Sometime, it may take longer than usual. You need to press and hold the power button for a bit longer in such a case. Make sure you are using the original charger that came with the phone.

If this method does not work, then try charging your Samsung Galaxy phone using a wireless charger (if available). Otherwise, move to method number 2.

Method 2: Replace the Battery

After connecting the device to the charger, if the device does not show any sign of charging, it could be having an issue with the battery. Here, replacing the battery might solve the black screen of death issue.

Method 3: Forced Restart

A forced restart does the trick in many cases. It kind of refreshes the phone, which might fix the black screen of the death issue. It does not remove any data or applications from your phone. Follow the steps mentioned below to perform a forced restart.

  • Connect your phone to a charger
  • Press and hold the power button and volume down (-) button at the same time
  • Release the buttons when the Samsung logo appears on your phone

Doing a forced restart disconnects the device with the battery for a couple of seconds. This method is also useful when the device faces app crashes, freezing, or boot loop issues.

If none of the above methods worked for you, then the black screen of death issue is most likely caused by some hardware fault. If the device is within the warranty period, visit the nearest Samsung service center to get the issue fixed. And, if you have managed to recover the device from the black screen of death issue, then follow these steps.

  • Update all the applications from Google Play Store.
  • Try to use less or remove all third-party apps which have not been downloaded from the Google Play Store.
  • Install the latest One UI update (if available).
  • Reset all system-related changes that you did before the device got into the black screen of death issue.
  • Keep at least 5GB of free storage.
