Luckily, the PlayStation Support Forum has mentioned some of the possible ways to resolve this disc reading issue. Now, without getting further ado, let’s get into the possible workarounds below.
1. Reboot Your Console
First of all, restarting the console can also fix multiple system glitches or disc reading issues in most cases. To do this:
- Press the PS button on your PS5 DualSense controller.
- It’ll open the PS5 Control Center menu.
- Here you have to scroll down all the way right of the menu until you see the Power icon.
- Select the Power icon menu > Choose Restart PS5.
- Wait for the process to complete. Once done, try checking for the disc error.

2. Power Cycle Your PS5
You’ll need to power cycle your console to check if the problem is solved or not. It basically refreshes the system and its cache which can temporarily cause multiple issues. To do that:
- Simply turn off the PS5 completely.
- Once turned off, disconnect the power cable from the console and even from the power source.
- Next, wait for around 5 minutes or so and then plug back the cable in.
- Finally, power on the PS5 and check whether the CE-100005-6 error code is fixed or not.
If not fixed yet, try another method.
3. Check Another Game Disc
Try using another game disc to check whether the PS5 system or hardware is causing the issue or only the game disc is a faulty one. If in case, the other game discs work properly that means the particular game disc is causing the error. Otherwise, contact Sony PlayStation Support for further assistance or even repairing the disc main unit under warranty (if any).
4. Clean Disc Gently and Properly
Try cleaning the game disc properly and gently by using an alcoholic wipe cloth or microfiber cloth. Make sure that there is no dirt, dust, scratch, moisture, fingerprint, etc left on the disc. This can also help the system to read the disc properly.
5. Redownload the Game
Make sure to cancel or delete the partially downloaded game from the disc on your console. Once canceled or deleted, just restart your console, and try redownloading the game again from the disc. This can also fix the issue.
6. Pause Update and Install the Game
You should try to pause the game update during the game download or installation. Some of the affected PS5 users have mentioned that this particular trick has worked for them. However, it’s not 100% guaranteed that it’ll work for all. But you can at least try it once.
7. Factory Reset Your PS5
It’s needless to say that a factory reset can fix multiple issues with the PS5 system like server connectivity, download queue error, storage space not free enough error, data not transferring issue, and more.
- Go to the Settings menu from the PS home screen.
- Choose System > Select System Software.
- Select Reset Options > Choose Reset Your Console.
- Choose Reset to confirm the process.
- Wait for it to complete and reboot your console.
- Once all done, you’ll need to sign in to your account again and install your previously installed games or apps.
